Nancy, an expert in human factors and ergonomics, specializes in human performance, specifically how people interact with technology and their environment. She investigates the way in which human performance is affected by factors including fatigue, distraction, and impairment, and how performance is impacted by the design of technology and the work environment. Nancy worked as a human factors engineer at both the Army Research Laboratory (Human Research and Engineering Directorate) and Lockheed Martin where she researched human performance and designed and evaluated product user interfaces. While pursuing her Ph.D., she worked at the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research where she researched the effects of sleep deprivation/fatigue on human performance.

After receiving a Ph.D. in Industrial and Systems Engineering from Virginia Tech, she served as an Assistant Professor of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering at Cleveland State University (CSU). Nancy was awarded competitive research grants from the National Science Foundation, the Ohio Department of Transportation, and the Cleveland State University Transportation Center. Her research has been published in national and international peer-reviewed journals.
