Karen K. Koehler (Stritmatter Kessler Whelan, Seattle, WA) has been nicknamed "The Velvet Hammer" by some of her adversaries. She is listed as a Top 10 SuperLawyer in Washington State, only the second woman so recognized. Ms. Koehler reached a wrongful death settlement that found the City of Seattle responsible for enhancing the danger of the 2001 Seattle Mardi Gras. Since 2011 Ms. Koehler's Velvet Hammer blog has been listed as the top Trial Practice/Litigation Blawg by the ABA. She is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates since 2006 and an adjunct professor at the University of Washington School of Law.
